ART paper

When you say Art, I would dread the subject. To an 8 year old kid, who loves to read comics and play computer games, Art work never really appealed to me.
I would do this, say, there was an announcement to submit an art project, I would muddle over the drawings, pencil and scrawl, play with my paste, and put it in all inconceivable places, then realize, I have accomplished absolutely nothing. And whenthe submission is close to due, I would....
a) ask my mom to help me out.
b) paste and draw something really awful and show it to my mom.
c) my mom would read my assignment notebook and scream at me at why I didnt let her know ahead of time.
And due to this, I always got a very nice artwork. But then added to my growing and irritating frustration I would never EVER be an artist, and I would never ever create something nice and to be oohed and aahed at in my life.

Something must have snapped when I look back at Art Appreciation class in college, and all the saturday evenings that I watched Tatak Pilipino hosted by Jim Paredes and Gel Santos-Relos on Channel 2, on saturday evenings in my second year high school.

I began to see visual arts as something wonderful to be appreciated. I only got to visit THE national museum when I was 20. And I had my first taste of appreciating Swan Lake the ballet as well. I also ventured to watch plays, musicals and other smaller theatrical productions, indie films, and there, I realized I had a passion for art already. The experience of touching base with friends who actually buy and collect art, sculpture and art objects all over the world got my interest piqued.

So, this blog collection would be about arts and culture through the eyes of a trying to be kewl guy who now thinks art IS the real KEWL thing to go for .
